Flow measuring probes

Several probes for various measuring requirements relating to experimental flow investigations have been developed at the institute. The probes have been optimized for application in turbomachines to minimize disturbances in the flow field. In combination with a suitable calibration method, the probes - together with the traversing units which have been developed in-house - guarantee high-precision results for flow measurements. The following probe types are typically developed and used at the institute:

    Measurement of 3D flow vectors in subsonic flow
  • 5-hole conical head probe
    Measurement of 3D flow vectors in supersonic flow
  • 3-hole boundary layer probe
    Measurement of 2D flow vectors in boundary layers
  • 3-Loch cylindrical probe
    Measurement of 2D flow vectors in subsonic flow
  • Multi sensor hot-wire probe
    Measurement of fluctuation 3D flow vectors in subsonic flow

  • Length: 500 mm

Other sizes are possible.

Application range:

  • Pressure range: depending on calibration
  • Temperature range: depending on calibration (maximum ≤ 400 °C)
