Test Rigs (DLR)Copyright: © DLR | Institute for Space Propulsion
The DLR Institute of Space Propulsion has unique expertise in Europe in the development and operation of test facilities for rocket engines. Propulsion systems for rockets and space crafts have been tested and further developed at the Lampoldshausen site since 1959.
The construction and operation of facilities, the design of test specimen and testing under the difficult conditions of rocket propulsion systems is a key competence that enables the quantitative investigation and evaluation of elementary processes and technologies at component and engine level. DLR's test infrastructure for chemical rocket propulsion systems is unique in Europe and offers test facilities ranging from laboratory scale to test benches for full scale engines such as Vulcain 2.
